Fujitsu Siemens unveils new storage bundle

Fujitsu Siemens is to bundle CA's BrightStor ARCserve Backup product and XOsoft Enterprise Rewinder continuous data protection software in its FibreCAT storage systems.

Customers will be able to buy the bundled solution from next month and the deal covers both FibreCAT NX and FibreCAT SX disk storage systems and FibreCAT TX tape storage systems.

The company said the bundled system would make it easier for companies to protect their business-critical data, as well as delivering savings in software licensing fees - estimated to be in the region of £1900.

Storage experts said the move is important for businesses as it is becoming more vital ensure that organisations have enterprise-class data backup and storage.

"Legislation and the potentially catastrophic consequences of losing business critical data are important factors for backup and storage," said storage industry analyst Dennis Szubert of Quocirca.

"Dealing with business-critical data is one of today's most important tasks for IT staff. Despite ever-growing volumes of information, it is important to keep the timeframe for data backup and restore as small as possible," said Dr Helmut Beck, vice president of storage at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "To achieve this requires both reliable storage hardware and the corresponding software for data management, backup and recovery."
