Dell launches ruggedised Latitude ATG 620
By Maggie Holland,
Users who spend a lot of time working on the move, particularly in outside-the-norm terrains, will soon be able to get their hands' on a laptop that has been designed specifically with them in mind.
The ruggedised notebook, Dell's Latitude ATG 620, has been benchmarked against military standards for vibration, humidity and altitude, in addition to being protected against moisture and accidental knocks, making it the ideal companion for users working in touch conditions.
Featuring a 14.1-inch display with ambient light sensor (ALS), glass overlay and anti-reflective coating, the ATG 620 also boasts a shock-mounted hard drive, spill-resistant keyboard, port covers and high durability paint.
The Intel Core 2 Duo processor notebook's display is one-and-a-half times brighter than most of its peers, making it particularly apt at avoiding screen distortion when it is being used in sunlight, according to Dell.
"The Latitude ATG is a prime example of Dell's commitment to customer-driven innovation," said Jeff Clarke, senior vice president of Dell's product group.
"We have heard from customers loud and clear that a tougher, highly protective notebook with a screen that is easy to see outdoors is necessary in many lines of work. We're glad that we could meet that customer request with a product distinguished by industry-leading features."
Users in the US can buy Dell's latest innovation, which starts at $2499, straight away, whereas those in the UK and the rest of the world will have to wait a few more weeks.
