CA aims for unity with name changes
By Nicole Kobie,
CA is set to simplify its product brand names over the next year, the company said.
The New York-based software company will drop its sub-brands - such as eTrust, Unicenter, BrightStor - as well as product brand names - including PestPatrol, Endevor and FileSurf - in favor of simpler, consistent product descriptions. For example, Unicenter Service Desk will now be named CA Service Desk, while eTrust Access Control will be now be named CA Access Control.
In a customer letter, CA stressed: "Keep in mind, we are only simplifying the product names - the performance and functionality you have come to trust in your current CA products will not be affected by this name change."
The change was spurred by CA research, which suggested the CA brand name was stronger than the individual brand names.
The changes will take 12 to 18 months to complete. A complete list of names is available on the CA website.
