The Cloud gives Vista fans free Wi-Fi
By Maggie Holland,
The Cloud has teamed up with Microsoft to point the finger of favouritism on early adopters of its Windows Vista operating system (OS) by giving them up to three months free Wi-Fi access.
Between now and the end of April, all UK-based users of the new OS can take advantage of free access to The Cloud's 7,500 hotspots across the country.
The deal is open to both new and upgrading customers and will mean that, by visiting The Cloud's website and entering their Vista product registration code, they can benefit from wireless connectivity to stay in touch with work or home while waiting for a drink, plane or train to arrive.
"Increasingly, people expect to be able to access information while on the move - whether it is to keep in touch with friends, access their music and videos, or of course being able to work from different locations," said Cynthia Crossley, director, of Microsoft's Windows OS group in the UK.
"Windows Vista includes enhanced mobility features which make it really easy for people to do this. Our partnership with The Cloud will enable customers to start experiencing these benefits immediately, ensuring they will never be far from high speed wireless access to access music and photos, share files or communicate with friends."
"Over the past two years, the landscape for mobile working has changed drastically, due to a combination of the proliferation of Wi-Fi technology and the update of notebook computers," added George Polk, chief executive at The Cloud.
"We are delighted to be Microsoft's chosen Wi-Fi partner for the launch of Windows Vista and expect this to be of great benefit to UK consumers as they experience the new exciting applications when on the move."
