    Olympic bid competition starts online

Planners for 2012 Olympic Games in London launch online tendering and planning site for all contracts.

By Nicole Kobie, 12 Feb 2007 at 11:28

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has launched an online tendering and planning site to allow companies to bid for 2,000 contracts for the 2012 London Olympics Game.

Using the site, firms can bid for all ODA contracts currently on offer and view what will be on offer in the next 18 months.

ODA Chief Executive David Higgins said: "We want to ensure businesses can see the opportunities in advance so they can prepare to bid. We also want to make the contracting process straightforward, consistent and simple."

All tenders for ODA contracts - such as construction, landscaping, and payroll services - will now be advertised on the site. In the future opportunities section, the ODA is currently looking for suppliers for mobile phones and IT services, as well as builders for a fencing hall and basketball arena.

In the spring, the site will also be used to allow major first-tier contractors to advertise subcontracting and supply chain tenders to smaller businesses.
