British have right to flexible working

Children's Minister Beverly Hughes says workers should have the right to request more flexible working arrangements.

Such a change will pose challenges for IT departments, he said. "Most people require access to corporate IT services, and providing that in other locations is a challenge," Bamforth said, citing security issues as a major concern.

The biggest hurdle is not technology, but management, he said. "The thing that's difficult is keeping up inclusion so that people working more flexibly, away from colleagues and comforts and culture of an organisation will still feel included," Bamforth said.

But, according to Bamforth, technology will be a key enabler in helping to overcome the issues of culture and connectivity.
