3GSM: GoHello waves its way into UK market

New mobile offering will reduce telephony complexity and cost for businesses.

By Maggie Holland, 15 Feb 2007 at 11:56

Speakanet plans to unleash a new communications service for UK businesses in the next quarter that it claims will 'render all hardware-based office telephony systems obsolete.'

Following successful trials last year in Denmark which saw the service being taken up by more than 10,000 business users, Speakanet now plans to embark on a global roll out of the offering, dubbed GoHello, starting with the UK market, it was revealed this week at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona.

Rather than being tied to standard land lines and having to carry separate mobile devices, employees using GoHello are able to use their standard GSM handsets and have calls routed to them via a software switchboard.

Employee availability is displayed on the switchboard, which can even extract data and synchronise with diary details from applications such as Outlook.

The arrival of the new service, which its creator is heralding as the world's first off-carrier, 100 per cent mobile, business telephony service, will reduce set-up time and costs for organisations in addition to delivering other advantages once live, claims Speakanet.

GoHello negates the need for investment in hardware or technical staff and can be up and running in less than 10 minutes.

Companies pay for the service through a monthly, per user subscription charge of £3.99, meaning they are also no longer tied into a lengthy and inflexible contract.

"The global launch of GoHello marks a new era for business telephony. For far too long businesses have had to put up with the expense and hassle of maintaining complex and inefficient PBX systems, and have been unable to take advantage of the mobile phone revolution - until now," said François Mazoudier, chief executive of Speakanet.

"GoHello is able to replace expensive PBX systems with a feature-rich, software-based telephony system using normal mobile handsets that any-sized business can get up and running within minutes."
