Patchlink buys Stat product line
By Rene Millman,
Patch management firm PatchLink has bought the Stat Guardian Vulnerability Management Suite product line from communications and IT company Harris for an undisclosed sum.
As part of the agreement, PatchLink has purchased Stat Scanner, Stat Command Center, Stat Report Center, Stat Patch and Remediation, and Stat Analyzer. Under the new PatchLink ownership, most of the Harris personnel currently supporting Stat will continue to develop, support and sell the products.
Richard Simonian, vice president at Harris told customers using Stat will have the same customer support structure in place to serve their needs.
"Any modifications to existing customer support structures will be made gradually, with the goal of keeping you informed and making Stat solutions and customer service even better," he said.
Patchlink said that with the acquisition of Harris's database of vulnerabilities, the company has now created the industry's largest repository of more than 19,000 patches, updates and vulnerabilities.
Analysts said the acquisition would allow enterprises to have a single view onto infrastructure.
"In today's enterprise IT environments, there are multiple agents on desktops and servers performing redundant tasks with unified management, making it more difficult and costly," said Charles Kolodgy, research director at IDC.
"Enterprises are looking for holistic solutions to help mitigate corporate risks, handle compliance with industry regulations and eliminate threats," he said.
