Monarch flying high with new web testing tool

Monarch Travel Group has invested in web testing technology to ensure any proposed new applications can stand up to the demanding requirements of users before going live.

The group, which is the umbrella name behind brands like Monarch Airlines and Cosmos, is using Empirix's e-TEST suite to test the reliability, scalability and overall performance of applications such as those delivering news, special offers and booking services to customers.

"The web is still the fastest growing distribution channel, and critically important to both the business and our customers," said Laurie Diffey, Monarch's group head of IT development.

"When browsing a web site or making a booking we all expect the process to be seamless and stress-free."

Applications will be heavily tested using one of the Empirix suite's components called e-LoadExpert, which involves simulating hundreds of thousands of concurrent users carrying out real business transactions to analyse whether performance is affected by high volumes of traffic.

During the testing process, the back-end application infrastructure will also monitored so that potential bottlenecks can easily be identified and resolved before they turn into a major business obstacle.
