    WiebeTech unveils Raid 5 portable storage

New storage appliance offers Raid 5 redundancy and up to 3.75TB of capacity

Storage hardware company WiebeTech has launched a portable storage appliance that offers users Raid 5 levels of redundancy.

The RT5 eSATA Raid device supports up to five IDE drives, each up to 750GB in size compbining to form a single logical volume of 3.75TB.

The box also has a built-in Raid controller allowing support for Raid levels 0, 0+1, 3 and 5 and also includes a hot spare option. The manufacturers have included an eSATA connection to overcome volume size limitations.

"We've streamlined the connection options into one fast eSATA port in order to increase volume size for our customers who need the largest capacity in the most portable package available," said James Wiebe, chief executive of WiebeTech.

The appliance also features a password protected, button-driven menu on the front of the box as well as a warning light to alert users if a drive has a problem. retail pricing starts at £995 plus VAT for the base unit without drives.
