BT rolls out worldwide MPLS VPN for Nestlé

Food company agrees deal with BT to connect 1,000 sites globally with VPN links.

By Rene Millman, 24 May 2007 at 11:29

BT has signed a deal with food giant Nestlé to roll out and manage a global VPN (Virtual Private Network).

The agreement will see the telco install and manage the service using MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) to connect more than 1,000 sites around the world. The service will also include voice and video running across the network. The food company will also use the network to roll out managed audio conferencing.

Inbound and outbound internet traffic will be secured using the telco's managed firewall service.

The services will be maintained under Nestlé's Global Business Excellence service level agreement to support the requirements of the contract across all services.

François Barrault, chief executive of BT Global Services said the new contract marked a relationship of more than 15 years with the food company and demonstrated the company's confidence in BT.

"This is a further validation of our strategy aimed at delivering high value and strong alignment between BT and its global customers. I am very proud to be part of the next phase of development of our partnership with Nestlé," he said.
