    Moorepay refutes stolen laptop claim

Payroll specialist Moorepay refutes claim by The People newspaper that a laptop containing financial data relating to the Duchy of Cornwall estate was stolen from an employee of the company.

By Rene Millman, 26 Jun 2007 at 18:11

Moorepay, the small business division of HR and Payroll provider Northgate Information Solutions, has spoken out to refute a report published by The People newspaper that a laptop containing sensitive financial information relating to the Duchy of Cornwall estate was stolen from an employee of the company.

In a brief telephone interview with IT PRO, Moorepay managing director Kay Mason said that neither Prince Charles or the Duchy of Cornwall estate were clients of the firm and the story published by The People was untrue. Having phoned IT PRO to make that statement, Mason abruptly hung up on our reporter before any further questions could be asked.

As previously reported by IT PRO, a Moorepay laptop containing personal data and payroll information relating to employees of the Eden Project was stolen from an employee at the beginning of June.
