Kwik-Fit deploys mapping technology for website relaunch
By Miya Knights,
Garage chain Kwik-Fit has signed up for new mapping services as part of its efforts to update its web presence.
The UK automotive repair specialist has been a long-term user of online mapping technology, offering customers basic centre location capabilities via its website for the last eight years.
But in relaunching its website, it has updated the mapping technology used to deliver this capability, signing up 192.com Maps to provide multi-criteria search, centre locator and profile modules as well as a journey planner.
Centre search results are now returned on a fully interactive map and can be refined by MOT centres only - one of the most popular services offered by the company. While a further phase will incorporate mapping and centre search functionality into the online MOT booking function, allowing instant confirmation of test times.
Having reviewed a number of mapping services providers during the website redesign process, Chris Bosworth Kwik-Fit marketing and business development director said the company was impressed with the usability and design of the 192.com service, which was first launched to 192.com users last autumn.
"The 192.com maps are more detailed and clearer and we are confident that traffic to our site (and to our centres nationwide) will increase with this innovation, as it has already proved to be an effective marketing tool in the past," he said.
