BT launches search engine marketing service
By Maggie Holland,
BT today launched a new search engine marketing service, dubbed Web Clicks, reinforcing its focus on levelling the playing field for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
The new service is aimed at helping smaller companies to target new customers using the power of the web by letting them have a sponsored link on major and local search engines, including the likes of Google, MSN and Yahoo.
Those signing up to the service, which is based on a fixed monthly fee, and minimum 12 month contract - also benefit from experts who will analyse their existing website and use of search engines to define the keywords that will generate the most interest, in addition to professional copywriters to create results-driven ads for them.
The monthly costs start at £20 excluding VAT and are calculated based on five tiers - dependent on the nature of the SME's business - and how many clicks they want each month. All generated leads are directed straight to the SME in question's site rather than via any other online directories, according to BT.
"More than 70 per cent of internet users rely on search engines to find a local service, and they are a proven way of generating leads. However, it can be both time consuming and costly to set up and sustain a campaign," said Bruce Abercromby, general manager for BT's strategy and development division.
"BT Web Clicks helps by choosing appropriate keywords and gets traffic to your site, enabling small businesses to focus on converting enquiries into sales - and all for a fixed monthly budget. We guarantee that you'll get the results you want for the agreed price - or we'll give you your money back for any undelivered clicks."
