Reuters signs £20 million IT deal
By Miya Knights,
Reuters, the financial data and news company has signed a £20 million support services contract with Computacenter.
The move is designed to underpin a programme of improvements that will reduce costs and increase service levels to Reuters' UK customers in addition to supporting systems and providing infrastructure support services that include service management, dispatch desk, supply chain logistics, incident, move and change management and decommissioning.
The four-year Computacenter contract, which went live last month and comes less than a month after the organisation awarded Fujitsu a £500 million managed IT infrastructure services contract, will and see an unspecified number of Reuters staff transfer to Computacenter according to TUPE regulations.
"By working with Computacenter Services, we will be able to improve both the quality and effectiveness of the overall service. The partnership will facilitate innovation throughout the contract term and will play a significant part in delivering continued great service to our customers," said Beat Goehring, head of Reuters' professional services group (PSG) in the UK.
He added: "Computacenter Services has a good 'fit' with our customers and a proven track record in TUPE and retaining transferred staff. We are confident that it will be able to provide impacted staff with enhanced career prospects, which was a key factor in our decision to partner with Computacenter Services."
Reuters will make use Computacenter's shared services factory model and technical resource group of highly-skilled engineers to take advantage of a range of industry best practice methodologies to optimise service delivery.
Computacenter has committed to a number of transformational initiatives over the contract term to improve efficiencies and the customer experience, according to Simon Walsh, managing director for services at Computacenter.
