Public Sector Roundup: Gateway rollout finishes

Government Gateway roll-out completed
EnGage - a partnership between Atos Origin and Microsoft - finished rolling out new applications for the Cabinet Office e-delivery team.
A combination of off-the-shelf products and bespoke software, it will let the government communicate to the public and handle transactions such as tax returns.
"The Government Gateway is a major government asset and, with over 11 million users, it has become a linchpin in the delivery of public sector e-services to citizens and businesses alike," said Chris Haynes, director of the e-Delivery Team at the Cabinet Office.
Bassetlaw Council uses IT to improve health
Bassetlaw Council has teamed up with Northgate Information Solutions for a seven-year, £90,000 partnership to improve management of environmental health, private housing, antisocial behaviour and waste by using a geographic information system.
Chris Shaw of the council's environment and housing service, said: "It is essential that Bassetlaw delivers first-class environment and housing services, whilst being aware of the need to address issues raised by recent government legislation and future challenges. The council is committed to implementing practical improvements to these services to benefit the local community, and we believe that our close collaboration with Northgate will help deliver the best service for local citizens."
Tameside gets legal IT
Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council has signed up to use Axxia's DNA Legal Services platform to help improve business-oriented services. The DNA system will handle case management, electronic files, time recording, and workflow.
Sandra Stewart, Tameside's borough solicitor, said: "By deploying Axxia DNA across a diverse service, including the team which provides legal services to the Greater Manchester Pension Fund, we are looking to improve the quality of our overall service and meet the business demands of our internal and external clients for electronic service delivery and comprehensive management information."
