BCS to launch recruitment website
By Miya Knights,
The British Computer Society (BCS) has announced it is launching a recruitment website for IT professionals to search and apply for jobs online.
The site, which will also be open to non-members, will feature a mix of UK and international based permanent and contract vacancies.
Eve McTighe, BCS membership marketing manager told IT PRO the site will, for a fee, offer jobs direct from prospective employers, as well as those offered through recruitment agencies.
She also said the site is being launched in response to member feedback. "We see this more as careers portal," she said. "While we have offered careers advice and development, the feedback we were getting from our members was that there was a gap in our services when it came to recruitment."
Visitors to the site will be able to apply online and register to receive email alerts of vacancies that match their search criteria, while users will also be able to upload their CVs to a "Knowledge CV Bank" for recruiters to proactively search.
All roles will be linked into the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) framework with an extensive search facility including search by IT Industry sector, keyword, location and salary.
As referenced by McTighe, the site will also be home to career advice pages, a graduate section including vacancies, plus a directory of UK and International recruiters.
David Harvey, BCS membership product manager also said that the website has been developed as an easy-to-use facility to give both members and non-members a direct route to high profile jobs and organisations searching for the best people in the industry.
He added: "Our new service has been developed to help professionals manage their careers and their movement through the job market."
BCSrecruit.com goes live on 17 October.
