Housing Corporation outsources core IT management
By Miya Knights,
The Housing Corporation has signed a £7.5 million, three-year agreement for a range of infrastructure management services to help reduce operational costs and improve the efficiency and security of its IT infrastructure.
The organisation, which is responsible for investing in new affordable homes and regulating over 1,500 housing associations across England, will help raise standards of IT delivery in support of its employees and the 2,000 registered landlords and local authorities it serves.
The deal, won by IT services provider Steria, covers the management of the Corporation's entire IT infrastructure including server and storage management, to security and software components.
The outsourcer will also manage the desktop infrastructure for all 500 employees across the Housing Corporation's nine offices and upgrade all its desktop equipment.
Peter Marsh, Housing Corporation deputy chief executive and sponsor of the project to take on the managed services said the contract aims to improve the day-to-day running of the agency by providing key support services such as applications hosting and support, systems and data administration and backup and recovery facilities.
He said the deal was struck after "an extensive procurement process which has focused on choosing the right partner to help meet our business needs".
The IT transformation programme Steria will undertake will also include the introduction of continuous service improvement processes and IT infrastructure library (ITIL) based service management solutions together with a service desk for call logging and resolution.
