Micro Focus ups its Enterprise View
By Chris Green,
Micro Focus, the Reading-based enterprise software developer has released a major new version of its Enterprise View application management solution.
Enterprise View helps businesses understand the state of their critical IT and make more informed decisions about changes such as code developments by providing business and technical data about the overall technology state of the business.
Maintaining an up-to-date view of the IT systems in place and how they interact can reduce the risks of disruption after a high-level changes such as integration after a merger or acquisition, outsourcing or new application deployment.
The latest release, version 5.6, adds several new features and improvements, particularly with regard to reporting, change management and predictive analysis of application code changes and the knock-on effects for workflow, improved outsourcing management capabilities and a new management portal.
"With the release of 5.6, we are putting much more emphasis on combining business information with technical level analysis through better reporting and a more granular approach to how information is collected and reported back," said Jeremy Spencer, product solutions director for APM at Micro Focus.
One of the key new features is Impact Analysis, which allows users to develop changes to complex applications, and then apply them against the tool which can then use its analytical knowledge of the application and workflow to plot the knock-on effects of the code change, as well as calculate the likely resource time and cost of making the knock-on corrections as well.
"Impact Analysis tracks the relationships between applications and code and reports back on the overall effects of a change, identifying potential issues before they become disruptive," said Spencer.
"In all, this release is about responding to customer demand for more technical analysis capabilities," he said.
