New Toshiba business notebooks high on style
By Benny Har-Even,
Toshiba has announced a new range of notebooks aimed at medium-sized businesses.
Intended for the mobile professional, Toshiba said it's aiming to provide the quality business users expect, without compromising aesthetics.
Each of the models in the range sports a new sleek design that will extend across both consumer and business models with a titanium silver finish with a metallic-style latch-free lid.
Three models are being offered. The first is the Satellite Pro A300 featuring a 15 inch TruBrite screen. The second is the Satellite Pro U400, a thinner and lighter model with a 13 inch screen and hard disk protection to prevent damage from falls.
Finally, the Satellite Pro P300 is a large screen model with a 17 inch TruBrite display, featuring either ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 graphics or lower powered but less power draining Intel GMA X3100 graphics.
The focus is on connectivity with Bluetooth 2.1, Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi, though which flavours were not revealed. A modem is also included for when speedier connections are not available.
The new Satellite Pro range of notebooks are expected to be released sometime in the second quarter, though Toshiba had not provided an exact release date or confirmed pricing at time of writing.
Toshiba recently pulled its HD DVD format from the market after losing the war over the next high definition optical media standard to Sony's Blu-ray format.
Toshiba is also well known for its lightweight Portege range of notebooks .
