IT pros looking for new jobs

Nearly a third of IT professionals have kept their New Year's resolution to look for a new job, according to a new survey.

Sticking to a New Year's resolution might be an impossible task for the slackers among us, but it seems IT professionals keep their word - when it comes to job hunts, anyway.

According to new research from recruiter The IT Job Board, of the IT professionals that declared their New Year's resolution was to find a new job, 30.6 per cent have done so already.

And they're not concerned by stories of economic hardships, either. Of the 235 people asked, nearly 95 per cent were happy to look for a change in job despite the current economic downturn .

Meanwhile, 5.1 per cent of people said that they wouldn't risk changing jobs in the current economic climate. Of those asked, 7.1 per cent said that they did not believe that they would find a position they would like better.

But overall, the findings were encouraging, said managing director of The IT Board, Alex Farrell.

"Everyone starts the year with the best of intentions, but we recognise that the pressure of everyday life can deter them from achieving the changes they want to make."

He added: "However, four months on, with Christmas a distant memory, the results of our research are encouraging not least because they illustrate that people take their careers seriously."
