Creating a Windows Vista Backup

Click on the Windows button and select Control Panel, System Maintenance, Backup and Restore Center. There are two panels within the Restore Center, one for Backup and the other for Restore. Within the Backup panel there are two buttons, marked 'Back up files' and 'Back up computer'. Click 'Back up computer'. The next screen offers all available hard drives and CD/DVD discs for the backup. As already outlined, the best option is another hard drive, which is much quicker and doesn't require disc swaps during the back up. Even our sample system, which is a simple installation, requires over 15GB of disc space, so it would need four DVDs and three swaps during the back up. Click Next.
