    Software installation

IP PBX software is available for use on both Linux and Windows servers from a number of vendors. A server implementation of Windows is preferred for the SwyxWare software featured here (Windows 2000 Server or later), but on a small network (up to 10 users) the Swyx software can be installed and run on a XP PC.

A familiar, wizard-led, installation procedure takes around 20 minutes to complete. On a network of up to 100 users the core server software and the PSTN gateway can be configured on the same host. On a larger network they may need to be hosted separately.
