    Video: HP outlines green strategy

HP's environmental stewardship manager Carl Eckersley has outlined how the company is improving the green credentials of its hardware.

By Stephen Pritchard in Berlin, 18 Jun 2008 at 16:01

Analysts expect world-wide shipments of personal computers to grow by more than 15 per cent this year, despite concerns about the global economy. According to research firm IDC there will be 310 million PCs sold this year, higher than expected. And notebooks are the strongest-growing sector.

As the world’s largest PC maker, HP has a responsibility to ensure that its hardware is as green as possible to use, and as easy as possible to recycle. Steps such as removing mercury from laptop displays, toxic materials from plastic casings and increasing the number of recycling centres are just some of the ways the company is trying to do this.

Watch the video clip for more on how HP’s Carl Eckersley, environmental stewardship manager for the company’s Personal Systems Group, plans to keep green issues at the top of the agenda for PCs, PDAs and other personal products.
