Dual monitors using USB now available
By Ash Dosanjh,
Graphics technology company DisplayLink and Kensington have teamed up for the latter's Kensington Dual Monitor Adapter using its USB display technology.
The adapter lets desktop and notebook users quickly expand their visual workspace by adding an additional monitor via a simple USB connection. The product is now shipping for Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS X platforms at £79.99.
The Dual Monitor Adapter works with any DVI or VGA regular or widescreen monitor and up to six additional monitors can be connected to a single PC using multiple adapters.
Director of marketing at DisplayLink Jason Slaughter said: "It’s an easy way to add another monitor to a PC without adding another graphics card. Adding graphics cards is okay if you’re only doing one or two, but if you have to do a 100 that’s going to be very time consuming.”
IT PRO reported back in January that DisplayLink was set to release a wireless version of its USB technology to hook up desktops or notebooks to multiple monitors.
Slaughter confirmed that this would be launched before the end of 2008.
