Google continues to dominate UK search
By Nicole Kobie,
It will come as no surprise that Google has increased its search dominance in the UK, with some 87 per cent of enquiries going through Google.co.uk or Google.com last month, according to figures from Hitwise.
That is up from 79.5 per cent in the same month last year, the figures showed.
The other ranked search engines all fell over that period. Yahoo was ranked second, but tumbled from 7.7 per cent in June last year to four per cent last month. Microsoft slipped from 5.7 per cent to 3.7 per cent, while Ask fell from 4.6 per cent to 3.1 per cent over the year to June.
The UK market favours Google even more than the US, where Google holds 69.2 per cent of search share, followed by Yahoo at 19.6 per cent.
