Three out of four web searches in the UK were conducted via Google’s UK site, according to research carried out by comScore.

According to the data. Google has increased its lead in the search field to 75.3 per cent of all search queries in the UK.

eBay managed to total 5.5 per cent of all searches, while Yahoo took in 4.3 per cent of the market.

Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Live Search accounted for 3.4 per cent of the market and Ask took in 2.4 per cent.

AOL’s acquisition of UK social networking site Bebo saw it expand its share of the search queries market to 2.3 per cent, which meant that fellow social networking site Facebook came in sixth place with a total share of 2.2 per cent.

Amazon and the BBC both accounted for 0.7 per cent, while property site Rightmove accounted for 0.6 per cent.

The survey found that there were 3.9 billion searches conducted in the UK during the month of June, 2008.
