Oracle snaps up ClearApp
By Chris Green,
Oracle has continued its software acquisition onslaught today with the takeover of application management specialist ClearApp.
The purchase will enable Oracle to add ClearApp’s QuickVision product and modelling engine technology to its increasing software arsenal as well as allow users to maintain and enforce service levels, reduced system down-time and improved return on so-called service oriented architecture (SOA) investments.
"Today, businesses rely heavily on agile SOA applications to automate key business processes. These environments are often developed and managed by different teams, and the high level of abstraction that makes these architectures attractive, also hide key application component relationships creating an IT visibility gap," said Leng Leng Tan, vice president for applications and systems management at Oracle.
"With the addition of ClearApp's technology to the Oracle Enterprise Manager product family, our customers are expected to get continuous and uninterrupted top-down views of their business services and applications, helping them maximise service availability while reducing IT operations costs."
Financial terms for the deal were not disclosed.
