Juniper launches high performance firewall
By Chris Green,
Juniper Networks has announced a new range of network gateways, based around offering high performance firewall and edge security services.
The company is describing the SRX 5600 and 5800 dynamic services gateways as a “new category of extensible networking and security products.”
The new gateways are based on the company’s JUNOS operating system, which is also used in most of the company’s switch products.
The gateways also make use of Juniper’s Dynamic Services Architecture, the company’s extensible design for simultaneously scaling integrated services and network capabilities on a single architecture, and delivers up to 120+ Gb/sec firewall throughput along side conventional gateways services including intrusion prevention, distributed denial of service (DDos/DoS) protection and quality of service (QoS) management.
“With new applications emerging and the security landscape continuously evolving, businesses require a high-performance network with flexible technology to enable the effective, efficient and dynamic deployment of advanced applications and services,” said Michael Frendo, senior vice president for high-end security systems at Juniper.
Pricing for the SRX 5600 chassis starts at $65,000 (£36,111) while the SRX 5800 chassis starts at $68,000 (£37,777). UK pricing has not yet been announced.
