Microsoft to issue 11 patches next Tuesday

Software giant gives advance notice about the vulnerabilities and fixes that Microsoft intend to release on Tuesday.

By Asavin Wattanajantra, 10 Oct 2008 at 14:55

Microsoft has given advanced notice of the security patches it intends to release next Tuesday, with four of the 11 bulletins rated as ‘critical’.

The four critical bulletins were for Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer, Host Integration Server and Excel for Microsoft Office, with the flaws all holding the possibility of exploitation and the launch of remote, code execution attacks.

Six other bulletins were rated as important and provide fixes for other Microsoft Windows OS vulnerabilities.

The notice was given as part of the Microsoft Active Protections Program, which is intended to help customers plan for the effective deployment of security updates.

Microsoft also said that it was going to release an updated version of its Malicious Software Removal Tool.
