    HannsG gets tough with monitors

Monitor manufacturer keeps prodding fingers and germs at bay with strengthened protective screen.

By Benny Har-Even, 30 Oct 2008 at 11:09

Display specialist HannsG has introduced a tough screen 19in display that is says is designed to withstand the bumps and knocks of busy public environments.

The industrial sounding HC196DP is covered with an protective acrylic screen, which makes it easier to clean, and therefore a good match for hospitals, GP surgeries, libraries and schools, the company claimed.

“The HC196DP has a tough screen surface specifically designed to shield the underlying panel from… damage and which makes cleaning a piece of cake, all of which can give a monitor a much longer life span than a standard monitor and ultimately reduce cost of ownership,” said Martin Kent of HannsG UK.

Otherwise the street tough display features run-of-the-mill specifications, DVI and VGA connections, 1,280 x 1,024 resolution, integrated one-watt speakers, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 170 degree viewing angle and VESA mounting capability - the latter enabling it to be easily fixed to walls.

The HannsG HC196DP is available from Misco and costs £90 excluding VAT, including a three year warranty.
