Samsung B130 becomes UK’s cheapest phone for a fiver

Carphone Warehouse has cut the price of the Samsung B130 to just 4.95 a move that's likely to woo many shoppers looking for bargains during this year's credit crunch Christmas.

The phone isn't exactly looking to take on the Apple iPhone or BlackBerry Bold, but even for that cheap price it's capable of browsing the internet.

Indeed, the dual band Samsung B130 features WAP and GPRS, as well as a 65k colour screen for browsing. It plays polyphonic ringtones and even has a voice recorder, but has no camera. Still, not bad for a fiver.

Carphone Warehouse's chief executive Andrew Harrison said: "As bills are going up we're committed to bringing our customers products they can afford with a credit crunch-busting mobile."

The pay-as-you-go handset can be bought online here, with 10 of airtime on either Orange or T-Mobile networks. The next cheapest phone on the site costs 19.95.
