The IT management software firm CA had plenty to be cheerful at its annual user conference this week. Coming off the back of a seventh consecutive quarter of revenue and licence growth, its executives had plenty to be cheerful about.

Just managing to attract over 4,500 customers and partners together to discuss all things ‘CA’ was enough to put the smile on chief executive, John Swainson’s face. But he was also on hand to highlight some new strategic products CA brought to showcase at this event for the first time.

Centring around the CA enterprise IT management vision that CA chief technology officer, Al Nugent described to IT PRO, the new product developments were designed to enhance its ability to help govern, manage and secure the enterprise.

New developments included the launch of a software as a service (SaaS) business unit, virtualisation management capabilities for the data centre and tech aids to help promote ‘wellness‘ in the healthcare industry.

But with the announcement of ongoing research into the value of IT to the business also kicked off this week, it remains to be seen whether the market appreciates the value of CA’s up-to-date strategy, vision and value in and of itself.
