Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone shipping
By Reuters and IT PRO,
Nokia's long awaited entry into the touch screen phone market, the 5800 XpressMusic, has started shipping the company said.
The finish mobile phone company said on Thursday the phone is, or soon will be, available in selected markets globally, including Russia, Spain, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Finland.
Potential buyers in the UK however will have to wait until early next year to get their hands on the phone.
Nokia said last month the model will cost €279 (£234) before operator subsidies and taxes, substantially less than the iPhone 3G.
In further competition to Nokia, RIM, HTC and Sony Ericsson has already revealed large touch screen high-end devices.
Touch screen enabled smartphones have reportedly been boosting demand for third party mobile applications.
