5. Follow a slice of the web
5 . Follow a slice of the web

Web slices are like RSS for just part of a web page; instead of going back to the page to see if something has changed, you can subscribe to it and get a clip of the page that gets updated. So far there are only a handful of slices, for eBay, Digg and some sites you’ve never heard of; the Live Search weather slice isn’t currently available and you don’t always see prices on eBay items. In general, while it’s a great idea, until lots of sites mark their pages up for slices, you’re going to have a lot of confused users trying to subscribe to slices. The shortcut is to look at the RSS button on the toolbar; if there’s a slice available it turns green and you can pick any of the slices on the page from here and add them to the Favourites bar (this is the renamed Links bar).
