You can manage search providers and accelerators alongside plug-ins and ActiveX controls in the Manage Add-ons dialog. If web pages seem slow, you can check the add-ins and see how long they take to load (and disable slow ones to see if that helps). Change the Filter to Downloaded controls to look at ActiveX controls. These can only be run by the web site that first installs them, unless you click Properties and choose Allow on all sites (you don’t need to do that for common, well-known controls like Flash). If you’re running standard users under Vista they can now install ActiveX controls, but only in their own profile, avoiding the need for a UAC elevation.
