Using Windows 7 XP Mode

.
Installing XP applications
Sharing installer files with XP Mode is simple enough. Virtual PC’s integration tools use Terminal Services to work with the host PC, and you get instant access to local drives. There’s also the familiar XP network view for access to workgroup PCs. You’ll need to manually join the XP VM to a domain if you want to access domain services.
Once you’ve found where your installation files are installed, just run them as you would any other installer. Adding applications to the XP Mode VM will automatically add them to the Windows 7 start menu. Once applications have been installed you can close XP Mode.

Ubuntu with WINE
Surely WINE in Linux is more efficient at running basic Windows apps? Running an entire VM seems a little unnecessary.
