    Using Windows 7 XP Mode

9. Windows 7 Integration
9 . Windows 7 Integration

Launching XP Mode applications will take longer than native Windows 7 apps, as you’ll need to launch the XP Mode VM that hosts them. However, once it’s up and running, your applications will appear on your Windows 7 desktop – as familiar XP Luna-style windows, rather than using Windows 7’s Aero. As applications are running in a VM they don’t get the same treatment as native Windows 7 windows. You won’t see a live preview in the Task Bar, or a live view when you use Aero Peek. You will see an outline of an XP Mode window, however, which is enough to help you manage your applications on screen.

Ubuntu with WINE

Surely WINE in Linux is more efficient at running basic Windows apps? Running an entire VM seems a little unnecessary.
