Microsoft delivers Vista SP2 RC to testers

The release candidate for Vista Service Pack 2 is now in the hands of technical testers, Microsoft has said.

By Stuart Turton, 20 Feb 2009 at 16:32

Microsoft has delivered the release candidate of Vista Service Pack 2 to its technical testers.

The release candidate is being offered through Windows Update to Microsoft Connect testers, though the company will not confirm when it will become publicly available.

"We continuously engage with our partners and testers on the development of service packs and we will track customer and partner feedback from the beta program before setting a final date for distribution," Microsoft said.

"We will have more to share on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 SP2 soon and are targeting final delivery in (the second quarter of) 2009."

As with previous service packs, SP2 will bundle all previous bug fixes and patches, as well as support for Blu-ray, Bluetooth 2.1 and Windows Search 4, the latest version of Microsoft's desktop search technology.
