Lenovo launches two new workstations
By Jennifer Scott,
Lenovo has announced two new workstations today – the ThinkStation S20 and D20.
The computers have been designed with industry professionals in mind who work in areas like digital content creation or computer-aided design.
Tom Tobul, executive director for enterprise, software and peripherals at Lenovo, said: “Designers, engineers, developers and scientists require the highest levels in computing performance to help them produce breakthrough innovations.“
“The new ThinkStation workstations will deliver not only the utmost in performance, but also a user-centric design with an emphasis on quiet operation, even during heavy processing."
Lenovo has taken a green approach with these new desktops. Each machine users 50 per cent recycled materials. In the ThinkStation D20 workstation, nearly 30 per cent of the recycled content comes from post consumer recycled content, which is apparently equivalent to the weight of approximately 19 plastic drinking water bottles.
The workstations can also be configured for personal supercomputing. By adding the NVIDIA Tesla C1060 GPU platform there are 240 additional cores of dedicated math processing power, helping speed up calculations.
The two models will be available in April this year with prices starting at approximately £980 for the D20 and £780 for the S20 (excluding VAT).
