    Microsoft promises Windows 7 by 2010

Microsoft has stuck by its promise that Windows 7 will arrive by January 2010, if not sooner.

[a href="http://www.microsoft.com" target="_blank"
rel="nofollow"]Microsoft[/a] has confirmed that [a href="http://www.itpro.co.uk/609485/windows-7-beta-first-look"]Windows 7[/a] will be released by January 2010 at the latest, if not even earlier.

The date was confirmed to [i]IT PRO[/i] by Laurence Painell, Windows OEM and WGA marketing manager. He said: “We made a promise that we would release Windows 7 no later than three years after Vista. This gives us until January 2010 and we are confident it will be released by then, if not earlier.”

The highly-anticipated OS is currently in its beta stage. Microsoft has said the next version to be made public will be [a href="http://www.itpro.co.uk/609725/next-version-of-windows-7-will-be-release-candidate"]the release candidate[/a], which some expect to [a href="http://www.itpro.co.uk/610341/windows-7-release-candidate-to-arrive-in-may"]arrive within the next month[/a] or so, suggesting the full release could come much sooner than next January.
