In addition to reducing the number of servers from three to one, Royal London has improved the performance of its applications. It can also create additional virtual machines as and when needed easily, ensuring it can respond to increased demand without additional cost.
From a cost perspective, going from manual management to simplified management through automated devices has reduced staffing costs. The new equipment has also reduced power and cooling requirements, adding even more cost savings to the mix.
“Integrity Virtual Machines is saving us on the front end – by reducing the number of physical systems we need to purchase – and on the back end, by keeping our administrative overhead low,” Cranshaw added.
“It is an extremely efficient way to manage diverse workloads.”
Royal London is now looking into what other areas of its business could benefit from the server virtualisation technology.
