Iomega releases new rackmount server

Iomega today unveiled its StorCenter Pro ix4-200r NAS Rackmount Server.
The company, part of storage giant EMC, is aiming the new server at the small and medium sized business (SMB) market and it will cost just under $2,000 (£1,343).
Reliability and ease-of-use are key focuses of the new launch, according to Jonathan Huberman, president of Iomega and EMC's consumer and small business products division.
The new server will provide as much as four terabytes of network storage and offer a variety of features including multiple RAID configurations, remote access, multiple network protocols and VMware Ready Certification. It also provides integrated EMC Retrospect Express backup software as well as MozyHome online backup service with gives 2GB of free online storage per user.
The StorCenter Pro ix4-200r NAS Rackmount Server runs on a 3.2 GHz Intel Celeron processor and contains four disk drive bays. It has a 1GB system memory with a one gigabit Ethernet connection.
Iomega claims that it is ready to work “with just four mouse clicks” and accessible in 11 supported languages.
The suggested US retail price for the 2TB version is $1799.99 and the 4TB model is $2,799.99. Both models come with a three year warranty post registration and are available now worldwide.
