iPhones dominate app market
By Jennifer Scott,
A new report by analysis firm Flurry has shown the iPhone’s ongoing dominance in the mobile applications market.
The results show 56 per cent of apps are used via an iPhone with 28 per cent from an iPod Touch and a 16 per cent share for Google Android.
The survey measures usage by 14 million customers of 100 apps across four platforms.
Although Apple is clearly still the market leader, the Android has jumped by nine per cent since the same survey in March. With a list of new android-powered phones being released this year, it could be set to rise further.
Apple announced last week that its App Store has delivered one billion downloads in just nine months with 35,000 apps on offer. Google may have a bit of an uphill struggle to catch up but it is on the right path.
Apple had no comment on the report when contacted by IT PRO.
