Google launches second Android Dev Challenge
By Maggie Holland,
Developers and users around the world are being encouraged to develop and rate innovative applications for Google’s Android operating system.
Following the recent launch of the Android Cupcake 1.5 version of the platform and the arrival of the HTC Magic handset, Google will kick off a second Android Developer Challenge to bring new and user-approved apps into the market.
The last challenge received more than 1,700 entries, which were whittled down to 50 winners.
The Android Developer Challenge 2 (ADC 2) will open its doors for entries from the beginning of August.
“We've expanded ADC 2 to involve a very important part of the Android community - the users who will be running these applications. Users of Android-powered devices with Android Market will be able to download a special Android judging application and use it to download and rank applications submitted to the challenge,” said Eric Chu, on the Android Developers blog.
The top ranking applications across the 10 categories will then be assessed by a panel made up of users and Google selected judges.
“I've already seen a lot of great apps on Android and I look forward to seeing even more innovative and unexpected cool apps that will come out of this challenge.”

Android store no posibilities to show new app
OK,that is great but. We made Sportypal top outdoor sports tracker. Design is nice and clean, functionality is great. The web site is powerful....this comes from our users on WinMo,Nokia....also from Android users but we can't present our application on android site. Google made bad copy of Apple app store. At app store you can see all aplication on iTunes and then choose one at Android there is 5 why? Give the developers space this is the first step.
