Will High Court stop McKinnon’s US extradition?

He's been fighting since 2007, but will Britain stop confessed hacker Gary McKinnon from being extradited to the US?

Gary McKinnon awaits the result of a High Court judicial review challenging his extradition to the US.

According to Reuters, lawyers for McKinnon have argued that he is too ill to stand trial because of his Asperger’s Syndrome, with his supporters arguing that he will be at risk of suicide or psychosis if extradited to the US.

It has been a long road to this point, with the self-confessed hacker battling through legal channels such as the House of Lords, the Law Lords, the Crown Prosecution Service and the European Court of Human Rights – so far with little success.

McKinnon has been accused of illegally accessing data on 97 military and NASA computers in 2001 and 2002. He has admitted accessing the computers - claiming he was searching for aliens - but denies causing the thousands of pounds worth of damage he has been accused of.
