Reviews Round-up: Two SIMs, one phone
By Benny Har-Even,
The idea behind the Acer DX900 is a good one – it’s a mobile that takes two SIMs instead of one. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot to love about the execution on this particular device, which even for a Windows Mobile device is clunky and uninspiring. Only one for those that really, really need one phone for two SIMs.
Brother DCP-8085DN: multi-function laser printer
Brother’s multi-function devices are well regarded and this latest model continues that trend. The DCP-8085DN printed at nearly 25ppm in our tests, not to far off the quoted 30ppm speed, and it also offers scan and duplex printing capabilities. Quality was good too, and the price reasonable.
Dell EqualLogic PS6000XV SAN storage appliance
Dell’s purchase of Equallogic looks like to have been a good one as it continues to make a big splash in the storage market. The PC6000XV gets the balance right with a mix of capacity, ease-of-use, price and importantly, performance. If you need a SAN, this has to be on the shortlist.
Netgear ReadyNAS 2100 review: rack-mounted NAS
Smaller businesses should look the way of this Netgear, that offers a four-bay hot-swap RAID NAS in a rack mounted configuration. It’s well featured and there’s an online backup option too, but you need to place it out of the way, as otherwise noise could be an issue.
