Tech work becoming harder to find

The current climate means it’s taking much longer to find tech work, according to the IT Job Board.

The majority of tech workers face a longer, uphill battle to secure a job, thanks to the current harsh economic climate.

Many sectors have already experienced this hardship, but the tech sector is now starting to struggle too, with just under three quarters (74 per cent) of techies saying their search for work is taking much longer, according to an IT Job Board survey.

As a result tech workers are learning to be less fussy about the type of jobs they take on, according to more than half of those questioned as part of the research.

Some 64 per cent of those surveyed said they are now considering both contract and permanent tech jobs, while 59 per cent said they’re even willing to take a job with lower pay just to get a foot in the door.

“The current climate has meant that IT candidates are having to work harder than ever to secure employment. And, they are clearly setting their expectations lower when it comes to selecting the types of roles they wish to apply for,” said Alex Farrell, managing director of The IT Job Board, in a statement.

She added: “There are fewer jobs being advertised, and employers are receiving greater response levels for campaigns. Now, more than ever, it is crucial for candidates to keep up-to-date with the market and any relevant IT qualifications and certifications.”

Job loss

Electronics industry and automotive are just few of those who are badly hit by financial crisis. However, it gave lesson to everyone that living simpler is avoiding complications. The idea used to be for Americans to rack up a lot of debt to buy a lot of silly junk, but now more of us are thinking about debt relief. Since the recession hit, the lending crash, and job loss started to point out the vulnerability of everyone except the super rich folks that created said recession, more people have been thinking about debt relief, and it's led to a lot of people setting up an emergency account, for emergency funds. Cash is king, and the more you have for a case of emergency is a good idea – most experts recommend 6 to 8 months of salary in savings, so you don't need installment loans for debt relief.
