Demand for IT professionals up by a quarter
By Asavin Wattanajantra,
The IT jobs market is seeing a recovery, with a recruitment agency reporting a 25 per cent increase this month in demand for IT professionals.
There was also a 27 per cent decline in the number of applicants for each vacancy, which CV Screen claimed showed that IT pros were securing jobs faster.
CV Screen’s managing director Matthew Iveson said in a statement that the last couple of months were “encouraging”, with more enquiries from employers looking to recruit staff.
Candidates with skills in PHP, Linux and SharePoint were said to remain the most sought after in the marketplace.
“Following a tough first quarter to the year, we are seeing signs that optimism is returning to the industry," Iveson said. “We fully expect that the second half of the year will be a busier time for the IT jobs market.”
Yesterday, Forrester Research predicted that the global IT market would recover in late 2009 and 2010.
