Oracle brings Fusion Middleware 11g in the UK
By Jennifer Scott,
Oracle has launched its Fusion Middleware 11g edition in London today, following its initial launch in the US a day before.
The release of this next generation middleware comes within the deadline the company set itself, 12 months after the acquisition of BEA.
Charles Phillips, president of Oracle, said the company wanted this product to reduce complexity and the problems of integration.
He said at the launch: “The only way to do that is to have more standards, take responsibility for it all and have the integration at the factory. Any complex system not managed upfront to work together becomes unreliable.”
“The middleware layer is so important as it is where we define our standards,” he added.
New elements to the upgraded product include the SOA Suite, providing a single process platform, a WebLogic Suite, bringing in automated management, and a range of developer tools.
Further upgrades will be brought in over the next six months to include more content management and business intelligence tools.
10g users with be able to automatically upgrade to the new system.
